it seems I have killed them.

It seems you've depleted the batteries. Re-charge and you're good to go…

Is the general consensus that Photoflex softbox egg crates are the best bang for your buck?

Hi Arthur,

I don't know if it's the general consensus, but Photoflex products fall into a very nice price range without breaking the bank or being overpriced for an underwhelming product. They have a comprehensive selection of lightboxes with white or silver interiors and grids for all their boxes. The grids are of much better quality than most of what is sold on ebay and from Chinese distributors and they're durable.

A lot of people go to Creative Light and some only do so because they like the association with Profoto but it means nothing. I found the CL line to be a bit limiting in sizes and I don't think the grids are any better or different.

For my money, Photoflex is the way to go. That may not be what others do.

Lesson learned the hard way. :-)

Innovatronix do claim these are compatible with the BXRi's, are you saying you disagree with this from experience?

Now the search is on for compatible battery cells.

Thanks for the information, it seems I have killed them.

Mark

Correct. Innovatronix does indicate compatibility, but up until the Mini and XT3 (way behind the original release date), the ratings and specifications were for one strobe. As I said, if you're able to power both strobes without a problem then great, but my experience was that two BX50Ri's didn't play well with an XT SE and that is what Innovatronix reports as well.

This was part of what brought on the Mini and XT3. More and more people are using bi-voltage strobes on location and they had to redesign things for multiple bi-voltage strobes.

The photoflex boxes, diffusers and grids integrate extremely well! The grids for the medium SB and the 15.5X55 inch strip roll up into discs that are 6" round and 1" deep. I can't say enough about the product.

Heh, well i'm gonna go have my cookie for figuring out his problem.

The batteries might not be dead, i think, but don't quote me go look it up, SLAs die on two occasions, 1) left sitting idle for months without being on a trickle charger, 2) Rock bottom completely depleted t'ill the last drop.

I'm actually curious as to the Watt usage, i'll brb as i do some tests. Give up, can't find the manual for this thing, i was curious as to the W usage of a pop compared to the W usage of the modelling light.

I appreciate that. I was mainly worried about you.

I didn't fall out of the top 10, did I?

Darn straight they don't have an 85L. That's the only reason I shoot Canon, there's no other decent portrait lens besides it.
