I'm sending mine back to PCB.

Should be OK by v2.5 is recent history is anything to go buy. (Avoid the fix with the rubber bands.)

Now with added bokeh. (Good lenses are irrelevant, apparently. Just add bokeh and textures in post. It's the in thing.)

And now for something completely different.... an image shot with Elinchrom strobes.

This is from my glamour shoot on the beach with Ali.

Two lights.

Main - Elinchrom 600RX - Speedotron 22" beauty dish with white translucent deflector.

Fill - Elinchrom 600RX - Photek 46" Softlighter II used as reflective bounce.

EDIT: Both 600RX's are powered by the Innovatronix Explorer XT SE. An Explorer Mini is powering the Vornado fan. :D

Rob,
Nice lighting setup.
I really like the way an on-axis fill can help modulate shadows without becoming obtrusive.

Much more fun to seeing lighting in a lighting thread. :-)

Killer shot Rob! Great lighting.

But what we all really want to know is.... how did you get your gear onto the beach.

Can we see the cart?

LOL! :)

Beautiful shot Robert.

I also apologise for taking this thread slightly off topic, it's just I don't post anywhere else on this forum.

Back to Elinchrom, I've had the DO since I got my Quadra and I love it, I use it for nearly everything. When I bought my 2 x 600RX set I recieved 50% off a rotalux box and ordered the 27.5" Baby Deep Octa.

I recently sold my Ranger RX to a friend and he's looking at buying a Deep Octa. My initial thoughts would be to sell him my larger DO and keep the smaller one. My one concern is I really like doing studio beauty work, would the Baby DO with double diffusion suffice for this?

Ahh yes, transporting the gear across the beach. After a lot of thinking I decided not to buy anything. Instead, I enlisted the help of the model, makeup artist and stylist and we made the trek without too much trouble.

I still like the idea of the cart but decided to hold off for now.

Hey, hidden behind all the chatter, we have been discussing eli, we're just shy is all.

Nice shot, i have to say the lower POV tends to lend itself better to full body in my personal opinion & it looks like you gave her a work-out her arms a bit pumped! shame on you.

The more i look at it, the more i'm diggin her eyes.

Which reminds me of a question that I've meaning to ask. Has anybody tried adding a black fabric "mask" to the inside of the DO that would cover the front 6" or so of silver to create sort of a "hooded" baby DO? Smaller than a DO but with less spill?

Wouldn't wrapping the edge with cinefoil achieve the same effect? You probably could gaffer tape the cinefoil on the inside if you wanted, same thing really.

I've given recessed SBs a hood with cinefoil plenty of times, its quite easy to do and randomly effective. (Dependin how you well you do it.)

Yeah, same concept. Only difference is that cinefoil sticking out the front might not hold it's shape in wind or if fans are running.

Thanks, Case.

Yeah, camera position is an interesting topic. Something about it worked for me but I totally understand what you're saying. At the same time, shooting at that position for a full length shot can often add very undesirable distortion. ;)

Ali is a dancer so her arms always look like that. She was carrying the light stuff.... lololol

Actually, Martin... I screwed up. I left detail in the highlights. I have to stop doing that. ;)
