rick and people....my right arm was stretched at the elbow to the point where two tendons tore and the elbow socket came apart....no biggie....great surgeon put it all back together on July 7th 2010....1 year later I can hold a camera. I tried a few cameras....ended up selling most all but I will never let this Mark IV go!!!.....Sgt.Ed......​I took a few of the dogs lastnight....ISO 12800 and WOA!!!!!!!

also, I have my eye on a 400mm f2.8 L non IS......for 2000.00....good deal?

Sounds like it was a big deal. Glad you've recovered.
I do not have any experience with the 400mm. My experience with my 70-200mmf2.8 IS, 300mmf4L IS, and
500mmf4L IS has been that IS can make a difference. Most of my BIFs(eagles) are shot handheld. IS can make a significant difference. However on my 24-70mmf2.8 I have not missed IS BUT I shoot a different kind of photo with that lens.

I used to have the original EOS 400mm f2.8 (the new Mk2 is really a Mk4 as it's the 4th EOS 400 F2.8 - but the second with IS), it was a great lens and certainly did not show it's age in the IQ department. However it's HEAVY - 6.1 Kilo! Makes my 600mm F4 IS feel (relatively) light! You won't be dissappointed - they are lumps but they are good:cool:


Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).
