I figured its time to start posting pics so I can learn to do it the proper way (from composition to PP to saving the correct file type).
The sun was setting and I started messing with the nifty-fifty and OCF.
I like the last one the most but what do you all think about these?
Is the middle one OOF? seems like the branches are more in focus than her face. Or am I imagining things?

PS.
is it me or do the pictures "change" as we go through different programs? they seem to look different in Lightroom (2.7) than PS once I export it and then flickr makes them look grainy.
noob here so please be patient with me.

There are some artifacts on the images - I am not sure how they got there but they are taking away from the overall feel

My best part in all the three images is the twinkle that you have been able to get in all the images in the eyes.

I see the artifacts, but its after uploading to flickr that I start seeing them.

what were the settings in this series? The exposure does look wrong.
Is this SRBG or just RBG?

they do look overexposed (although I would argue with the last one) on here but when I view them in LR2 or PS they look fine, at least in my nonprofessional opinion. I will try to post the print screens so you can tell me where I screwed up.
Flo: I believe they are RBG.

thank you for taking your time BTW. :)

The last one( first one in the second post) is nicely done, you can see the exposure on her is nice, not overdone.A crop would also get rid of alot of superfluous things you don't need in the photo. Get tight without cutting bits and pieces off;)

They are laking contrast, having her *blend* into the brush as opposed to standing out from it?Try a crop and some slight contrast for this series. Also, did you apply sharp at all? They feel a little sharp.

Check your settings when shooting in the sunshine or very bright conditions.Little less busy BG will also help the focus.
She is a cutie, and I am sure you will have a willing model to help you improve:D

Try having the model look up more to eliminate double chins.

thank you for your time Flo. Getting constructive critisism helps a lot.

Flash was on camera so thats probably the reason it gave a bit flat light. I didnt want to overdo the contrast or sharpening, although I did apply some.
I still feel that as I was going through all the steps image quality and overall look were changing for worse.
I started in LR for basic stuff and exported to PS for sharpening and then once I saved/resized for web (gif file) it didnt look as good as it did at the beginning. LOL, so much to learn.
I guess I have to get a hang of one software and try to do everything there first before jumping from all over the place.

Was these three photos in cronological order?

In the first photo, the girl seems to seriously wonder why you have to take photos of her in the first place. The third photo is best because she have stopped thinking about you photographing her so she is most natural.

The hard part is to get them to think about something else, which makes them relax.
