If I used extention tubes with my EF 24-105 IS f/4, would that combination have the benefits of a stabilized lens?

I'm kind of new to all this, but curious about that. I've got the 100mm Canon macro (non-IS), but wondering if the above would give me a macro with IS.

Thanks

If you have the Kenko extension tube set that communicates with the lens and body, yes but if using the basic version no. How to tell the difference? Look at the mount to the body and there should be the same multi pin connectors as a Canon lens has. They cost a bit more but the benefits are major if you are not proficient with a stand alone light meter. For part two question, NO if the lens doesn't have IS the ext tubes are not going to provide IS. Certain brands of digital cameras have the IS in the body while Canon has IS in the lens.

Canon 60D,18-55mm,55-250mm,50mm compact macro, AF ext tubes. Sigma 8-16mm uwa, 18-250mm, 85mm F1.4, 150-500mm

AFAIK the canon 100mm L IS is the first macro lens where the IS is actually useful for macro shooting at near 1:1 magnification. I suspect the IS in your zoom lens would not be of any use at macro magnifications.

No Joe, my lens DOES have IS. So the question is if I put the tubes on the IS lens, will it still have IS.
