Ok I love my 50D but my wife got me an X100 (fuji) on the weekend, and I have to say I'm blown away. IMHO it does live up to the hype. I am still firmly in "experimental mode" right now, so once I get a better handle on my favoured setup/modes I may post shots if people want. If this is "prohibited" on the forum I do apologize.
Combining a decent DSLR (50D) with this compact "old-school meets new-school" design will rock I'm sure. I have already noticed that candid shots are more candid than with the big "semi-pro looking" DSLR. This camera is well thought out, well set up, and a great easy to use tool if you want great IQ in a small inconspicuous package. Fuji really focused on IQ above all it seems, the pics are very sharp and detailed and colour rendition seems excellent IMHO.
It's obviously NOT a DSLR killer (for example, the AF is really slow in comparison with any modern DSLR, and it is a fixed lens so you're stuck with 23mm x 1.6 crop without the ability to change lenses), and focus is locked to the initial frame in burst so it's not great for moving subjects)...but it is pretty darn good. Thought that people looking for a second camera might appreciate these comments.
PS it shoots decent quality video too (720p/24fps).
