CS4 wont open a copied CR2 file on my other laptop

I have 2 laptops, both with CS4 on (from the same installation disc)

When I copy a CR2 file from one laptop to the other, via an external drive or memory stick, CS4 on the second laptop does not open the CR2 file. The warning dialog box says its the wrong document type.

The wierd thing is, if I upload images directly from a CF card and then open them in CS4, there is no problem at all. It's only when I copy and paste CR2 files from one laptop to the other that I get the problem

Any ideas?

So both versions of CS4 have the latest ACR plugin?

hmmmm good question. Will have to check. I presume the latest plug in can be found on the Adobe website?

Yes - Although the easiest way is to go to the 'Help' menu and chose the 'Check for Updates' (or similar wording)

But make sure both installations have the latest version to ensure compatibility with your files.

Update ACR, at least on the one that gives the error. 5.7 is the latest for PSCS4.
