Here's a special warning for those of you in North Texas (it goes without saying that the same safety measures should be taken everywhere):

This is a good warning for anyone who uses Craigslist, anywhere.

We have had several of these in Atlanta. The latest being quite funny as the robber tried to call the cops and pretend to be the "victim" when the actual victim chased down the robber and pulled a AR-15 on him.

You'd think this would turn out to be a gun fight, being here in Texas and all...

I generally just have the people meet me at the police station. If they say no, I get suspicious...

Excellent idea to meet at the copshop.

I had someone ask if I would be "armed" when meeting on a $10,000 sale. I said "None of your business", he never called back. Craigslist breeds some interesting stuff, I'd be real careful any where other than a very public place.

I'm a little disappointed that it didn't turn out to be that myself.

Be sure to watch the link that Knary50 posted about the attempted rip off in Atlanta:

The seller (who was armed with a BIG A$$ AR-15) chased the crook down and got his stuff (iPhone) back. The crook would have gotten off with only having to change his underwear, but the idiot went to the police and local TV stations and claimed that he was the victim. Crook is now in jail.

All my CL sales are to really nice people in Nigeria who pay me a lot more than I'm asking.

When I usually go through CL to sell or buy things, we meet at public places which helps a little. Any phone deals, I make through a carrier store since I'm usually selling CDMA phones. Weather I'm selling or buying, a carrier store is where I go to make sure everything goes through.

I use craigslist alll the time, never anything happened to me. But you never know what can happen. Just be SURE never to have them come to your house or even their house, ALWAYS meet in a populated public area.

I use Craigslist all the time, never met anyone without having a gun or two concealed and on me. I'm SURE that if anybody tried to make something "happen", they will regret it as their worst and last mistake in life.
