preference for #1. The 2nd one seems too blue in the shadows.... WB cooling?

I only see one for some reason...I would bump up the sharpness and contrast though.

I would prefer # 2 if there was a little more fill light - too much shadow 'and' dark coloration - but that color patern/marbeling is a little more striking in #2, IMO

#1 b/c it leads my eyes down the steps, and that's what the image seems to be about. In #2 my eyes go straight to the enhanced area in the middle.

excellent point

Addendum: and I agree with the comment after mine here that the first one needs some Life infused into it as it is flat, vs #2

#2....although it seems to have a glow to it. The first image looks pretty flat and lifeless.

#1. In 2 my eye goes right to the side of the stairs v. down the stairs in number 1.

I hope you don't mind me playing around with it a bit. Few minor adjustments, unsharp mask, curves, hue desats etc.

Did you crop the photo on the left? If so, could you experiment with adding some back in to give the eye more "room" as it starts down the stairs?

If you're going to edit and replace images in a thread, I do wish you'd do it in a new post, not replaace the originals, something which I find confusing.
