I saw them along the road and on the trail at the top of Mount Pinos in the Los Padres National Forest north of Los Angeles. I went on a 17 day birding/photography trip last August covering from Fort Bragg in the north to Tijuana Slough in the south!! Spent 4 days at sea on pelagic birding trips. This is one of my favorite photos from the trip. Chipmunks rock! Only thing is I wish his tail had been on this side of the rock!
