Spectacular shot there, OP. What's the deal with the tower, on the right? Some sort of cooling mechanism?

Watertower for the noise suppression system i believe

Here's one quick one; not real pleased with my closeup results. Will look at them closer when I get a chance. Working on laptop in back of car at the NASA Press Site at the moment and hard to see the laptop screen real well with all the glare.

QUOTED IMAGE

Any shot is a good one from my perspective :)

I traveled 1/2 way around the world in 2008 to see a launch and missed it :(

Obama will be long remembered for me as the man who killed the US space program

Here's a few more. The launch photos came out a bit hot, but that's ok, I'll get it better next time......oh wait.....there is no more next time. Crap. I'll work with them more when I get back home.

1. The night before the launch. I was looking for the Batman symbol up on the clouds.

Great shots, Scott! It looks like you were able to get fairly close and have good access to the launch area before & during the launch. Did you have connections? What lens did you use for the launch, 500mm?

We were at Space View Park in Titusville. It's about 12 miles away. I used a 40D and a 70-200 F4 with IS turned off. Nothing great but best that I had.

I had a media credential through our county newspaper. The wide view of the launch was with a 70-200 f/2.8 L IS II set at 70mm and the close shots were with a 400 f/5.6 L with a 1.4x extender for a total focal length of 560mm.

I was in Titusville under the bridge with a 500mm f4l + 1.4x TC

Mine came out like utter crap. Oh well at least I was there.

The night before. This was on a tripod but the wind was so bad that not even that could hold it steady.
