Great job, and quick on your feet to be able to photograph this event.
Did you get covered in the dust?

Thanks! Made it home just as it was over taking me in my truck. Worst part is the inside of the house has a layer of dust on everything. The winds blew so hard it came in around the window edges on our house.

The wide angle lens is real dramatic here. I'd hate to think how close you were to that though. Thanks for sharing!

I saw this on the news, you had better photos. I guess at the time it would not be a good ideal to change lenses. ;)

It was pretty dark and the dust "wave" had tapered off by the time it got up here, so I didn't get any of it. Very nice shots though, far better than what I saw on the front page of the Republic.

Great Photos. All I can say is I'm glad we don't get dust storms here.

I'm still seeing cars driving around town with dirt all over them. My pool pump worked overtime, but eventully got eveything out.

All are great, but #1 and 5 are the money shots in my opinion. Powerlines drive me nuts when trying to shoot around the valley - I hate how they look in photos. In this case, the power lines and the road give a simply awesome perspective of how this storm travels into town engulfing everything in its path. I tip my hat to you! And, I must ask what lens were you using (sorry if you mentioned it and i missed it)? The shots inspire me to believe I made a good choice in picking up my new 11-16, but I'm also thinking I'm not quick enough to be that close, get that shot, then get the heck out of there!

Submit the first one to National Geographic and I bet it gets published. Really great series.
