Hey guys,
I'll spare you my background, but weddings are still "new" to me. I'm looking for posing for the guys. The detail / getting dressed shots are cake, but I can never find a posing system that works well. I typically will do the V setup with groom in front. As far as groom + each guy, it's hard to make them look masculine, and the group shots can be difficult if they aren't a "lively bunch"

Anyone have any tips or care to share some of their work? I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

Look up 'The Zeltsman Approach to Traditional Classic Portraiture'. (sorry, lost my link).

It can teach you the difference between a masculine post and a feminine pose...and how to create each with a 'feet up' approach.

I just tell the groom to undo his jacket and put his arm around them (over the shoulders) for my casual shots or have them facing slightly at an angle towards each other with left hand over right for more formal shots.

i was editing a makeup shoot from one of our photographers and while editing, i was blown away with the shots of the groom. Ive never seen such nice shots of a groom before. I asked the mgr who shot these and he told me it was our only female photographer!!
guess if a groom has a pretty girl taking the pictures, he's more "relaxed" then having one of our ugly guys shoot his pictures!!

As above, just have a bit of fun at least. One more thing. In the more formal stand-up facing the camera type, guys are hopeless with their hands, I always ask them to put hands in pockets, on their hips or behind their back. Girls and gay guys are great with hands and rarely need instructions.

I find it easier taking photos of the guys getting ready. I think the trick is to make everyone feel like we're all just hanging out, make it fun, get them to tell jokes that will crack everyone up, get them to do something (throw a gridiron ball round, kick a soccer ball, ride bikes around the streets they used to ride when they were kids, walk down the street reservior dogs style). People look great when they're relaxed and having fun, not when they're feeling awkward because some photographer's posing them in some weird position.
