Assuming a 5DMK3 is announced, how soon will you buy?

I would probably get it 6-12 months after it is realeased, hopefully a small price drop occurs in that timeframe like the 70-200mm II lens had.

Am I wrong or does it seem it should be announced by now?

depending on specs, I'll prob. pull the trigger pretty fast after user reviews.

I probably wouldn't buy a potential 5DMk3 until the Mk4 is announced. Not really the type to get brand-new bodies, but I prefer to lag at least one generation behind. It's not like you can really see that in the end result, and it saves you thousands over time

Like many already, I'll wait about 6~12 months.
Why?

My 7D does great.
My 30D is an "ok" back-up.
Photography isn't my main source of income - it pays for extras - so a brand new body ain't wise in my shoes.

BUT:
If anyone has good reasons to buy the moment it's announced, please do.
Fix any errors for me (and the others) and post lots of pics about which we can say, "Could ha' taken that with my EOS xxx", thus making us feel better about waiting, even if the truth might be the complete opposite!!!!!

There would have to be a few mitigating factors for me to get it, but then again, since my situation is not set into stone to the one that I want to do, I am in two minds whether I should get it

From what I have read, it will come out first as a point and shoot type camera at a 'comparable' price. I don't see it as a DSLR for a year or two. They are right down the street from me - I may have to go over and see if I can spy anything out.

If it come out around Christmas, maybe next summer, after all the
I GOT TO HAVE THE FIRST ONE ON THE BLOCK buying is done
and the prices start to come down a few dollars. It's a hobby.
If I don't have the absolute latest model, it's not going to kill me.

Probably what I would do too.
I have no interest in being the first on the block with a new shiny camera, I would rather read reviews first. Even if it means I have to wait a bit longer.

Same reason I haven't bought Final Cut Pro X yet.

I'll be waiting for the first decent price drop. Canon really do take the p!ss with their pricing for new releases. In the meantime, I'll buy some good lenses

Considering I just bought the 5D2...not.

Maybe when the 5D4 comes out?:p
