Epson ink expiration dates?

Anyone with a bad experience with out of date ink for the Epson 3880? Just got my reconditioned model from Epson and several of the carts say use by July 2011? Do I run the risk of gumming it up by using "old" ink, or is there some fudge factor built in? Thanks

I cannot advise you what to do, but I have used inks on my 3800 (about the same) that were a year old (maybe more) that worked just fine. I have also read about others doing the same. If a printer sits for 6 months without being used, it's usually recommended that the cartridge be removed and gently shaken a few times.

Thanks, started printing with the "out of date" carts and so far no problems, love the 3880! Upgraded from my old faithful 2200.
