I've been waiting for the 5d mark iii to come out, but found a bargain yesterday I couldn't resist. I picked up a back up body from someone who had bought a Canon 1d mark iii and never could figure out how to use it. She thought that since it was an expensive camera, it would just magically take better pictures, and never used it when she discovered that she would actually have to figure out how to operate it. I picked it up for $2000 and couldn't be happier. It is pristine, not a scratch on it, and having put it through it's paces, I think I got a great deal. I love the live view, the 6400 iso and large display.

When the 5d mark iii comes out, I'll buy that and will pretty much be in camera heaven. I'll probably keep my 1ds as well, it is such a great camera, a solid workhorse and that will be the one I lend out to my son, who likes to shoot fine art stuff and cars. I couldn't be more thrilled with my new toy!

Excellent choice. I have both the 1Ds and 1D in the MKIII variety and I am sure that you will be very happy. Sounds like the kind of deal where you buy a car from the little old lady that only drove it to church on Sundays. I just love the solid feel of the 1 series bodies.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.
