Hi All

I have seen a 1D MkII with a rear LCD cover that instead of being branded with Canon has the Giotto brand on it. In the upper left corner it says Schott Glass which I take to mean this is who made the cover and I think I associate "Schott Glass" with specialise glass products???

Now on the surmise the original got cracked/scratched or otherwise damaged why replace it with what is possibly going to be an expensive after-market product....afterall Giotto tripods are not considered 'budget' prices

Any thoughts as to what this different LCD cover is all about???

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Looks like the product has multicoating - which would improve the performance of the LCD in adverse lighting. Might get one myself for the 1D's horrible screen (outdoors)

Ah! so it is "just" a specialist after-market product. Found it now by Googling more exactly. The one I saw had all the other Canon 'legend' symbols/writing whereas the example on store photos only show Giotto, so are the other Canon symbols/words behind the protector i.e. on the Canon body itself???

Oh and they are not cheap £24.95 for the 1D version!

I have no clue, but it seems to be only $25 on this side of the ocean. If it's glass, it's better than the easily scratched OEM plastic screen covers (which also can't be anti reflection coated, either).

I'm not sure whether the adhesive is only on the borders or covers the middle of the LCD. If it's the former, it's really a screen cover replacement; the latter, only usable as a screen protector (the adhesive will attach to dust if there is nothing below it). Overall very interesting for those of us looking to use LCDs on older cameras outdoors.
