I'm trying to understand what the point of it is. Sort of a "since I can do it why not" sort of thing? I actually really like the iPhone as a pocket-able camera but obviously this kills the "pocket-able" part of it.

Oh No,

But what if you forget your camera but remember all your lenses. and happen to have bought this and remember to bring this, Wow, this could really be a life saver. and I'm sure since it uses the DSLR lenses the tiny sensor will have no effect on image quality and it will be just like you had you 5DMII with you!

I'm buying 10!

DO you think I should get an Iphone to go with it?

You need to buy 2, one as a backup. ;)

Keeping a running tally?

I have no interest in this, but this would be perfect for an event where personal cameras are not allowed.

yes but if they don't allow "personal cameras" in I doubt they'd allow you to shoot with an iphone with a big lens either.
