I am guessing the internal battery is dead. Is there anyway to replace it in this camera? I got it off flea-bay and they advertised it worked perfectly, and it does, except for the fact it asks me for date/time every time I turn it on. It remembers all my settings and such though, each time.

Thanks!

Got the manual? Download it from here (external link). On p. 124 is just what you want to know. The battery holder is on the left-hand side (viewed from the rear)of the camera. It takes a CR1220.

Ahh I see, the cover/battery thing is missing... They said it was missing the USB cover, not the aux. battery! I contacted the seller about it.

He stated in his auction "returns not accepted", however, it states under the eBay buyer protection that if the item arrives different as described I am safe/covered. He claimed it was missing the USB rubber cover, not missing the aux. battery door. I should be OK, right? It drastically changes the function of the camera. Setting the time/date every time I start it, placing photos in various files each time, etc...

If they can't get it for you, call Canon Parts - (732)521-7230 (Jamesburg, NJ). Shipping will be the largest part of the cost.

They no longer carry parts for the SX120IS... So I contacted the seller via eBay for a refund. If he refuses, I will go through eBay buyer protection, as his description was not accurate.

They have replacement parts for $20 on ebay, but I figure it will be easier to try and get a refund.

I wouldn't be surprised if the SX130's battery holder would work.

I am going to just return it... This thing killed two sets of batteries within twenty minutes. I doubt two sets of brand new batteries were bad, and barley got 10-20 picutres out of it.

If he won't accept the return, I am protected under eBay Buyer Protection, since the item was not as described. A bummer though, my dad wanted this for my mom for this trip this weekend. He is pretty bummed it did not work out, but is unacceptable when I was told it was just a USB cover missing and operation was perfect (obviously, not).

He has 100% feedback, so hopefully he is not a problem. He claims no returns but he best make an exception. He has no case against me lol
