Messenger bag with backpack straps?

I saw this somewhere and I cant seem to find it again. It's a messenger style bag but it also has hidden backpack straps that you can pull out to wear it backpack style. Basically it would be worn with 1 strap messenger style most of the time, but when you are doing longer hikes or riding a bike you can wear it backpack style too. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It doesn't necessarily have to be for cameras as I can add and insert but obviously if it was designed for cameras that would be best. Thanks.

I don't know if this is the particular one you are referring to, but it sounds like the BBP Hamptons Hybrid (external link).

The Think Tank "Urban Disguise" series of messenger shoulder bags has an optional backpack strap kit you can purchase for them. They don't come with them, and they aren't hidden when not being used (unless you count taking them off and putting them inside the bag).;)

Think tank has the "speed series" bags which are kinda messenger style but have "hidden" straps to turn it into a belt pack, maybe that's closer to what you mean? I think if you're hiking you'd rather have the weight taken off of your shoulders all-together.

Domke and Tenba also make backpack straps that can be added to most messenger bags; I use the Tenba on one of my Domke bags and am quite happy with it. The Domke, however, is smaller. Neither is any bother just hanging off the back of the bag as I shoot with it over the shoulder.

the kata 3n1 series can kind of do what you are looking for. probably a little bulky for messenger style, but it still works. actually, thinking about it, it is probably a backpack first, with a messenger option as an afterthought.

Billingham also makes a strap for their bags, although I have no firsthand knowledge of it.

Messenger bag with backpack straps

Hey

Now Im at uni, I cycle everywhere, and so my crumpler messenger back is a pain the neck. Really.

Ive been looking for a good backpack to hold my 13" Macbook Pro with a Speck hard case on it. Ive sort of settled on the STM bags, but although the Revolution is newer, the Evolution looks better, has a better layout in the front pocket, and has elastic straps, good for holding my helmet. As I cant see any major differences, I wonder if anyone else can explain why the revo is better than the older evo, or in fact just recommend a new bag I havent mentioned.

Thanks

Nothing is impossible.
