Hello everyone, yesterday i went to the beach with my Girlfriend to make a little photo session i would need comment about the editing, i used lightroom 3.4 tell me if it's to bright or to dark or what kind of editing you'd have done.

In the photo #4 i played a little with the blue colour trying to make the sky and water come out a little more..
Because with the original picture it was totally blown out, tell me if it looks realistic thanks for all your C&C !! :)

The 4th looks realistic, but what would really help is a circular polarizing filter. It will keep blues blue in the bright sunlight.

Good start. #4 would be better with some flash.

Overall a good effort. #4 needs fill and tilt correction as the horizon is tilted. Agree with the suggestions for CPF.

I disagree with the horizon. It is an incoming wave and they cycle from one end to the other so there is nothing to fix, it's how nature intended it.

I straightened the horizon and added a ND filter 'effect' to try and darken the sky some... I didnt change anything else with regards to the overall picture.

In situations like this when not using strobe, I would forget about the bg but expose properly for the subject. On shots like these the longer focal lengths make the final outcome so much better IMHO.

BTW - Beautiful GF.

I feel #4 could have benefited from a fill light as she is underexposed and there are no catch-lights in the eyes.

I would have deleted #5. In this shot, the subject's pose has added pounds to her abdomen.

I have no real comments to offer on the other two as the crops are awkward, there are many distracting elements in the background, and the subject is centered nor engaging.

My take on #1 (could have done more if there was a larger image to work with):

#1 is my favourite but slightly orangy around the face.

thanks drvn the sky looks way better with the ND ''effect'' indeed that is the next thing i'll put on my buying list :)!

irishK thanks for the critics i'll adjust myself for next shots :)! i see alots of critics about the (element of distraction) in the background so next time i'll take that in consideration =)!

have a nice day!

I'm actually not digging what you've done. You've made it look like a storm is coming. Here's my 3 minutes Lightroom fix up. White balance was way off.. too cold. There is still blueness to the sky, it's not blown out and represents a sunny day at the beach.
