Does it ever not rain at Silverstone? There and Spa seem to be constantly under rain when a race series shows up.

Rain at dusk/night gives even more fun possibilitites. LIke this shot at Sebring with a wet track (the rain had stopped), I love the reflections in the wet pavement.

Clean your sensor. Good shots tho.

Wow, thanks. Its nice that you could actually see the shots through the filthy sensor and that they are "good shots" in spite of the one very little dust spot that is on one of the bodies. In the future I'll pay more attention to the dust than the composition.

Please don't start. There wasn't just one very noticeable spec, it was several. I didn't mean for it to get taken the wrong way.

Please point them out as I only saw one spot on one body all weekend long. If there are others I'd like to know so that I can clean them.

The one I know of is on the Thetford shot above the front wheel about a half inch below the tree.

Here are a few shots from this past weekend at Laguna Seca. It was an unbelievably good race and racing into sunset was just wonderful. Enjoy. Full galleries can be found at www.speedarena.com (external link).

Comments and critiques are always welcome.

I'm most impressed, IMO fabulous shots!

A few questions if I may?

Are you using a 1D MkII? If so I presume you are using AI Servo?

How many AF points do you use for these wonderful shots?

Do you leave it up to the camera to choose or do you use the central AF point only?

Stay well!

MkII. Central AF point only set to expand to 7 points in the custom functions.

Thank you.

Beautiful photos VW..........

I am a complete NewB and I appreciate the techniques you described earlier.

You know I never would of noticed that spec of dust until you pointed it out..........but now I see its on the photo of the Yellow Car as well........same place..... in the blur.

Don't see it in the others.... so would it be on the lens?

I can't imagine how you guys manage to keep your equipment clean in these situations........ there is a TON of dust in the air at any motorsports event.

Either way........great work. Looking forward to more photos. That last one in the night.......DROOOOOLLLL

No, its on the sensor, but I use two bodies and only one had the spec, thats why its not on the other shots.

Thanks for the kind words folks.

VW - if your going back an cleaning up the shots... the spot is also on the Porsche shot right above the wing... its the only thing that is not panning. But to be honesy, until it was pointed out, I hadn't really noticed either. Both are easily taken care of and don't really detract for the quality of your work. But with that said, I think I will have a peep at the sensors on my cameras before I head out to today's game. Cheers!
