i always felt sequences usually work better from 45 degree or 90degree and typically lower angles, following the trick all the way through

only issue with shooting skating, you need to find skaters who can land it, stick their trick, and allow you to get the photo

totally agree with 8s... if you are shooting low, then there is less requirement to necessarily see the trick landed. but if you are shooting a sequence, then stick it or try again. i've sat there with a guy trying to stick a trick and have gone through a few sets of flash batteries (thank god it wasn't film :o . at first skaters will get a bit perturbed and may feel like you're jinxing them. they sometimes even get a bit pissed off. in that case i'll still sit there in the bowl or bottom of the ramp, etc. without shooting. if they relax a little and stick it, i'll ask them to give it another go and usually they'll land it.

thanks for the tips . in this case though , do to the tight confines , shooting from a walkway above the bowl or from the backside were my only options . i never shoot from inside the bowl as the skaters at my local scene really HATE it when someone does that . nothing gets staged by these guys .... get it when it happens or you are out of luck .

So they're not good enough to do it on demand? ;)

you have to clear the way for a shoot, fight the skaters off if you have to, but landing the shot correctly is you're goal, find a time when the park is less crowded, but the best bowl shots ive ever scene were from inside the hip and super wide

i agree and am going to try , if i can find a less crowded time with some good subjects . what kind of lens would you recomend for this type of shot ? would a fisheye be a good choice ? i was just looking at the sigma 15 and 8 , are they any good ?

Looks like a pretty neat trick, I've seen tony Hawk and I think Bob Burnquist do something similar in the halfpipe.
