These two photos are from Yosemite National Park.
Here is what I did.
Using raw images, I edited in LR3 for fine tuning, then save these in jpg.
With CS5 I converted these into B&W, and added a touch of HD.

See before unedited from raw to B&W for PP.
Looking for some C&C please.

I would not have saved either one. You have to hunt to find the bird and the rest of the image is of not interest.

As a bit of perspective, I didn't even realize there was a bird until it was pointed out.

Thanks Dave, they are just for my editing skills(if any) on LR and CS5.
Yes, he/she is like Where's Waldo in these pictures. LOL

I guess I was looking for the C&C in these B&W photos. But then if it's not interesting enough, I'll never get any C&C from the people.

I would have to agree with the others. The images are too busy, and the bird blends in with everything else. There's no, real visual interest in the frame and it looks 'soft', overall.

When shooting birds or anything else living, one of the important things is to get the eyes in the frame and focused, as much as possible.

Keep working at it, though! It just takes time and practice to get things "right" :)

Leant to take a very good photo, then play with edits....the B&W did nothing for this set.

I don't think converting a color photo like this works. It takes away all depth. Good editing as far as color but not a very interesting photo.

You ARE getting the C&C you asked for.
Post processing (particularly a big move such as a B&W conversion) can't really be generically applied; the subject and composition (EDIT: and lighting) of the image are vital to whether the processing "works" or not.

P.S.: I'd listen to Flo's critique no matter how she spells it!

You have turned poor pictures into extremely bad pictures.

Keep trying though man. I have 50 bad pictures for every 1 good one. And I can maybe get a couple more out of the bad with some really good editing.
