We have a large area of Hostas growing near our porch. This morning I grabbed one of the flowers to see what it held. I have a nice collection of about 20 plant species flowers and pollen samples from my yard.

I am practicing my stacking and they seem to be getting better.

1. A stack of 12 shots of the anthers split open and showing its load of pollen grains.

Thanks Rakesh. No, the last two were not stacked. It looked like one of those spiky rubber dog toys on the end of a stick. It was just too thick to get any real sense of the depth though and I didn't think it would stack well, with those transparent spikes.

The pollen does look like wheat grains, or barley. I have looked a lot of pollen this spring, and a lot of it has that shape, or it's round with little spikes, like a mace ball. But, all of it is yellow. :)

Thanks Crimzon. Yes, it's great for the really small stuff. I am finding though, there is still a gap between the highest macro lens magnification and the lowest microscope lens magnification. At least for the lenses I own. The MPE-65 goes to 5x, and the smallest lens for the microscope I own is a 2x, with 10x oculars, so in effect, 20x. That's quite a gap, and for objects like flower parts, it doesn't really do the job.

For recording images, the ocular or Projector lens I use is only 2.5x, so it should be 5x out of the lens, but then I have two sets of Kenko tubes in line, plus a 1.6x crop sensor. I can't quite do the math for that though, so if anyone with a MPE-65 can compare my images with what he thinks a 5x magnification would be, it would help. :)
