My Daughter climbed our kitchen table and got ahold of my remote and mixed it with a cup of coffee i am not sure how long, it wasn't in the cup when i had came back (she had her paci in it by this time) Its not working its been drying since about 1130 this morning. I dont know how long i need to let it dry i've never dropped anything in the water before.. Do i need to buy a new one or will it eventually work. I use this thing a lot and im totally bumming right now...

Is this a wired release or a wireless one? If wired, does it need batteries? If wireless or if it uses batteries, the prognosis isn't good. If it's a wired one that's just a switch, it'll probably recover (unless she takes her coffee with cream and sugar). But check the POTN Shop (link at top of page) for replacement ones.

Drop it in a tupperware full of rice and let it sit overnight. Works with cell phones...

BUT...do you take sugar & cream in your coffee? If you do then that might be a deal breaker.

Pop it open, remove battery, rinse it out, then dry it.

If you haven't already, get the battery out of it! And rinsing it in fresh, clean water can't hurt, either, especially if you can get the housing apart to really get it rinsed out (circuit boards are usually cleaned in water after they're made, believe it or not). Let it dry thoroughly before putting the battery back in. Good luck with it!

If you are going to wash it, make sure you do so with PURE water. Tap water contains chloramine which will corrode your board. Before they leave the manufacturing plant, electronics are washed with DI water, which contains basically nothing harmful for electronics. If you have a carbon filter at home for your drinkable water (Brita), that would be your best bet. Oh... and do NOT put a battery back in it for at least 72 hours. Any type of shortcut may fry your board.
