They coming in tomorrow, I can't wait to try them out at this wedding this weekend. I Hope I have good copies if not. I know how to micro adjust so I can work with a soft copy if it comes to it.

Welcome to the Sigma lottery where misery loves company.

Hopefully you'll have two good copies but if you don't I hope you have a good sense of humor and a lot of patience. Just in case, Sigmas toll free number is 1-800-896-6858 and ask for Paul. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you as every success story is a ray of hope for those of less fortunate. Good luck!

Just got mine today and with my quick real world testing it appears I have a killer copy on my hands friends. So, there is hope! I'll know after this weekend for sure as well if it stays a killer copy, ha!

I love my 50 but it took me 3 copies to find a very good copy. I Would not test it out at a wedding! Ok, soft images can still be useable but totally misfocused ones cannot - there's a chance your copy may be like that...but I sincerely hope not. Some copies won't respond well to MA either.

My advice would be to be thorough with your tests prior to the wedding especially with near and far subjects, and also with strongly backlit subjects. If after that it works well, by all means use it at the wedding and you will get some amazing images!

lottery: 6 of 6 -> 0,00000644 %
Sigma: correct focus -> 0,00.... nah ;P

Had 3 Sigmas - all 3 failed horribly..
The point is not to get a lens where the af hits the right place lets say on MFD.. my copies had the problem with focus shifting.
If I remember correctly someone asked the support once: they set the correct focus on one distance. Wow .. useless.

Although people also seem to get right copies... somehow.
Im off playing lottery ;P

Two bad copies, sent one to Sigma w/o body to calibrate, still front focus, gotta send in body with it now. That's a lot of shipping charges and wait time.

The way to go seems to just buy one second-hand on here. At least you'll know what to expect from it.
Or just buy 3 and send 2 back (granted there's one good copy ;) )

Would not want to use untested lenses at a wedding. I tried a copy of the Sigma 50 and 2 copies of the Sigma 85 on separate occasions and they all had to go back due to AF issues. I have pretty much given up on the Sigma lottery. I ended up getting the 35 L / 85 L instead with no regrets.
