I would guess that you mean the 580EX (not 530).

You also have the choice between the 430EX and 430EX ii models as well as the 580EX and 580EX ii...

A lot would depend on your budget and how much you desire or are willing to spend.

In actuality, either the 430EX or 430EX ii models will do just about everything you want a flash to do unless you are planning professional use.

A lot is said that the 430EX (series) cannot be used as a master while the 580EX (series) can be a master in a multi-flash setup. However, what people don't seem to take into consideration is that the 580EX cannot be used as a master alone, you need another flash as a slave. So whether you buy the master first or second, it makes no difference.

The 430EX (series) will most likely fill all your needs at a significantly lower price.

NOTE: The 430EX and 580EX units have been replaced with the 430EX ii and 580EX ii. However, you might be able to find either a 430EX or 580EX new from an authorized reseller. Be wary of offers like the following which lists the 430EX as "new" but, it is actually "used - like new" because the warranty is not in effect.

The Canon warranty card means absolutely nothing. All warranty work is dependent on the invoice from an Authorized Canon Reseller.
