Hi all,

Does anyone know i just wonder if the ABR800 could be used with an umbrella softbox/ or a softbox?

The light looks a lot bigger than a normal monolight.

Thank you.

I use mine in both my 28" Westcott Apollo and my 50" Westcott Apollo. I'm not sure about other softboxes besides those and the Paul C. Buff ones. I've actually only used the Apollos.

It can be used with both umbrellas or softboxes. You'll find softboxes/octaboxes the more popular choice around here tho.

Check out PCB's website. They have both.

The Moon Units for the ABR800 are similar to an octabox in design. The ABR deflection ring pushes the light to the reflective surface making it an effective modifier.
I would use that rather than trying to shoe horn the ABR into a softbox designed for a regular monolight.

Oh thanks.
How's the 30" compared to the 56" ? Or should I get both?

I'd say the 56" is more for OFC use, wherehas the 30"ish can be used on-camera, i find the 30" big as hell, and its just hangin on my wall starin at me. I'd imagine the 56" would get even Less use.

They really are difficult to assemble too.
