Photos below, shot with 7D | EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

Seems like just yesterday, I retired my 35mm for this digital camera. For it's era, it did
allot of things really well, even pretty good in low light without using the flash. I used it
for about 5+ years before upgrading to a Nikon 8mb, which I used for 6+ years before
getting my 7D.

Everything is in perfect working order, and it looks brand new. My kids think it is 'cool'
and someday my grandkids, may look at it, as a relic.

No movies, No USB, just still photos at a maximum of 640x480.

It's going to be like an Apple II one day... people will look back on it with nostalgia. :)

That is one of the reasons I still have it

Hah, I always envied those Sony Mavica models... it seemed so convenient to be able to save right to a floppy. Then you could put that into your laptop to download. How convenient for traveling. (hah!)

My first digital camera was a Fuji FinePix 2800. I loved that camera... served me well for a few years until one day it simply stopped turning on.

I replaced it with a Canon PowerShot A520. That was the start of my ongoing love affair with Canon. I haven't owned another brand of camera since.

One of the advertising tag lines was 'no more pesky cables to loose or get tangled",
and they showed someone frantically looking through a ball of tangled cables for the
correct one.

Actually a great idea, just a bit ahead of the media, that was available at the time.

I never use my cable to transfer photos from my 7D, I just pop out the card, and pop it in the reader.

I worked at a computer store back in 1997-8 and those Mavica's were huge sellers. Everybody loved that you could use floppy disks back when an 8MB Smartmedia was like $75. If I remember right you could fit about a film roll's worth of shots on a floppy, so that was no big deal to people moving over from film.

I think those Mavicas were about a grand, weren't they?

Back then you either had a
monochrome monitor
CGA 640x200 4-8 color monitor
EGA 640x350 8-16 color monitor
VGA 640x480 16 color monitor (these were quite expensive early on)

so the 1.4MB floppy was a great fit.

I got 18-22 pictures per disc, and remember carrying spare disks in my pocket to swap out. When I got home, I loaded them and that was just such a cool thing.

Wow! I have one of those Sony cameras as well. I hadn't thought about it for years. If I can find some discs I'll have to dig it up and post some comparisons with the 7D. ;)

It also answers the question I had been asking about where the MGI software on my old laptop came from!

Oh boy, at only 1 pound that QuickTake sounds like a pleasure to use. My 1Ds Mark II is 3.45 pounds without a lens and I don't mind that at all. ;)

My first digital camera was the Kodak DC200, I believe. It had these picture border overlays in the camera that you could select, like party balloons, etc, then you took a picture, it would merge the two. I might have to dig around on my computer to find a few shots I took back in 1996/1997 with that thing.
