OK, this is an actual picture I took with the MVC-FD75, way back when.

It is a massive 110kb 640x480

I have a friend that still has his floppy disk Mavica - I wonder if it's possible to find 5 1/4" floppies anymore - I don't recall them using the smaller (3.5"?) disks, but then again, the only one I saw was his.

2.2 MB total storage on a high density floppy - (I remember my first XT computer had a 20MB hard drive which seemed big - now my 7D needs 25MB for one RAW file).

Back then you either had a
monochrome monitor
CGA 640x200 4-8 color monitor
EGA 640x350 8-16 color monitor
VGA 640x480 16 color monitor (these were quite expensive early on)

so the 1.4MB floppy was a great fit.

I got 18-22 pictures per disc, and remember carrying spare disks in my pocket to swap out. When I got home, I loaded them and that was just such a cool thing.

You might be thinking a decade back with the monitor tech. IN the late 90s, we sold 15"-21" CRT monitors that did millions of colors at pretty good resolution. THe 15-17" could do at least 800x600 if not 1024x768 and the 19-21" could do 1200x1600.

I think those Mavicas were about a grand, weren't they?

Yes, they were! I remember buying one many, many years ago at CompUSA (a popular, local store) back when it was still called Soft Warehouse. I was a lot younger then... <sigh>

Yes, 80s, 90s all kind of blurs together
I was thinking 80s for the monitors

You are correct, the pics did not fill my 15" or so CTR style screen

Where do the years go

My kids use this camera all the time. a while back I checked ebay to see what it's worth. Someone had one for sale and the bidding was at 12bucks. Still works great. IMHO had the best macro feature ever.

The one the OP posted uses a 3.5", as does the one I have. I think a 5.25" floppy would be bigger than the camera!

I use to have one of those Sony's back in 2000. I worked for a computer repair shop that took the camera in on a trade and got a great deal on it. I then used it for about two years before giving it to my mom to use. I wonder if she still has it. lol

Can I join? :)
This is the Sony Cybershot Pro DSC-V1
This was my first digital camera ever. Got it sometime around 2003-2004 I believe and this was one of the highest resolution cameras available at the time. I still remember that it was my birthday present and it was $500! Looking at what it has, I guess it's really worth the $500 back then. My favorite functions were the night framing and the integrated ND filter. Oh and don't forget, it's got RAW!
Funny thing is that I stopped taking pictures for a while until the winter of 2009, that's when I purchased my first DSLR (T1i) to start taking pictures again.
