Is There A RECENT Insurance Thread?

Searching "Insurance" gets you a lot of "you should have insurance" replies. :P Understandable, but not helping me!

Is there a thread where we chatted about insurance, the companies everyone is going through, and how much you're paying from the past, oh, 12 months? I feel like I saw one recently and now I can't find it. I've found a few that date back to 2008ish and of course the sticky up here has some recent stuff, but I was looking for a slightly more current discussion on this.

What kind of insurance?

Do you want to cover just your gear or are you looking for a more all-encompassing plan for a business that covers gear and includes liability and E&O coverage?

Property and liability. I'm already covered, I'm just exploring other options.

I recently overhauled 110% of my insurance and financials with her and I'm in a much happier place for it.

Oh, I would but I actually live in California now. Which is part of my dilemma. I know my insurance is good in all 50 states but I want to make sure I have all of California's regulations or whatever taken care of now that I live there.

Yea, I need to change that. I do spend part of the year in Phoenix (usually 2 months in the winter) but full time I'm in CA now.

We have all our business insurance through State Farm.

Hands down Tom C. Pickard Insurance (Farmers)...among professional photographers it is the most recommended one you'll find, least it was earlier this year when I did my search and they won without much of a fight from anyone else.

that is because farmers can offer a good BUSINESS policy.

which is what a lot of people need.


if you throw in owning a studio the WHOLE game is off. travelers will HANDS DOWN in a building that is equipped with fire sprinklers beat out ANYONE.

its almost messed up what travelers does with that class.

I'm interested in covering just my equipment, about 10,000, from theft and breakage for freelance work. Can you guys recommend a certain company and how much should I expect to pay and want as my deductible? Thanks.

I just called TCP and they said that they are not licensed in Florida yet.
They recommend Taylor and Taylor or Hill and Usher.
Any suggestions?
