I recently happened upon a great 5D classic for an even greater price deal, so I purchased it.

Now I'm looking for a lens to suit what I need NOW, not later. I don't have money for L glass... YET... so I'm looking at purchasing a 28-70 F2.8 SIGMA ASPHERICAL DF EX

Notice the DF, not DG, and not DC... will this lens be ok on the 5D?

Please help... need a good zoom with @ least 2.8 constant for the time being till I can get a 24-70L

this is only 250, the DG EX 24-70 2.8 is 500. I'm just using this 250 one until L glass.

28-70 F2.8 SIGMA ASPHERICAL DF EX will it work?

yes it will work
I have the exact same combo before I upgraded to 24-70L

anyway, the 24-70mm EX DG Macro shouldn't be far more expensive than 28-70mm
here in vancouver you can pick one up for about $350-$450

Have the same bits of kit in my cupboard. Lens will do until you find a Canon 24-70... ;)

Cheers, Dave.

Thank you guys soo much for your help. I can't wait till the lens arrives... I priority overnighted it from KEH. It should be here Saturday. I chose this 28-70 f2.8 sigma because so far it seems to be the smallest constant 2.8 short range zoom lens ever made. Next lens will be a canon 24-70L aside from the 50 1.2L i'm still lusting for. LOL!
