So, I have a 5D classic, and for product I usually shoot 24-70 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS. I want to start experimenting with some good primes.... And when I say good, I mean GOOD primes; no Sigma's, no Tamron's etc. Are Canon's macro's even in the race? From what I've seen the 2.8 and the 2.8L IS are almost identical optically, and since I'm shooting Profoto, there's no need for IS.
Anyways, I'd like to keep the budget pertinent to quality, ergo I am NOT paying for some L glass that has praise but doesn't impress me. I've been looking at macros, specifically Zeiss, Leica, and old film macros. AF doesn't matter. (I have a circa 1969 Takumar 50/4 Macro that's sharper than all of my glass somehow)
Does anyone have experience shooting product, and what's your most proficient, and sharpest piece of glass?
T.
