Anyone tried these...

To my mind they seem to have all the pitfalls of speedlites i.e. low power (GN52 although it states 400w) and none of the benefits either... i.e. mobility!

Cheap though lol.

First off the Quadra is not a ripoff, I love both my quadra kits.

I bought the 600ws version last year and made a post about it. Then moved onto better gear. If you like cheap plastic gear then this is for you. It will not hold any large modifiers and the support for the umbrella will snap really easy. You will get about 150 full power shots on a battery charge. Charging the battery take any where from 4 to 8 hours. (the quardra is only one and half hours fully charged and can be used while charging)

They will do the job, but if I was going to buy something like this I would get this instead.

These can be used AC/DC power and will hold large modifiers.

Pretty sure he's saying these lights are a quadra ripoff, not that the quadra is a ripoff.

I understand the want for a cheaper version of the Quadra, but I must say the price is well justified. The Quadra is a system and a complete system.

If you wanted to make a cheaper portable set up, why not a VML with a Dlite 4?

I agree with Luke on that.
