I love how in his first sentence he gets a dig in at 'other companies' and chooses to name one... Apple. He's a very funny man.

God bless him for knowing how to do everything better than anyone else. Where would we be without Paul?

Sorry Elinchrom users.. lolol

Of course, two days after my 64" white showed up, which I ordered because I wanted something a little softer than my 64" silver. Now I have to decide if I keep it or return it and wait for the "soft silver"...

I picked up on that as well, Rob. Paul never just promotes his products on their own merits. It always has to be at the expense of one competitor or another. Standard operating procedure for Luap.

I also find the current silver PLMs a bit much. Soft Silver sounds ideal. Unfortunately, Martin is probably correct: Figure on their being six weeks away.

I think this thread needs some pics of the PLM in use. I'm thinking of going in on these.

The new PLM's are announced but far from released. I think there are existing threads with samples from previous versions of the PLM's.

I don't know if I see too much use for the 64" white if I had the 64" 'soft silver' with the exception of the "japanese lantern" configuration. I happened to order the front spill-kill cover instead of the outer black cover (and subsequently ordered that as well), so I would have that as an option if I wanted to use it. Anyone found a good use for a PLM in that configurtion? I was thinking maybe lighting up a big group with one light, but other than that... I dunno. Maybe I'll get both, have the white when I want super-soft light in my studio, and get a "soft silver" with the umbrella configuration for when I need quick setup on location/outdoors.

lol, it's amazing how he named Westcott, a major photographic equipment and modifier company, as to having an inferior and off color product.....;)
