Its funny he takes knocks at other companies about inferior products, hasn't he had to revise some of his products because of inferior design and build.... lol.

Yes he has. He needs to look in a mirror before throwing stones, he has no room to talk. I can appreciate new modifyers from PCB, but I could do without all the crap he touts. Especially his last sentence.

Yeah , the last sentence is stupid. He's like a 12 year old that's mad at the world.

He can't possibly just discuss his products without displaying that nasty angry attitude.

He does bring some criticism on himself (ok...a lot of criticism). But the flip side of it is that he posted it on his own web/tech forum. I'm not aware that this is plastered all over the internet in commercial ads or anything. You're free to not go read it and pay him any attention.....

He does the same thing when he posts to other forums or engages in discussion outside the forum.

If he hadn't been banned from the Fred Miranda forum, you may be sure he would have posted this little infomercial there.

I mean, I don't care either way. It just looks to me like he's mostly gone away and posts primarily on his own tech forum, which is about all anybody can ask. Don't mistake me for a fanboi or anything, I actually don't own any of his lights, although I am interested in the Einstein along with some of the comparable Elinchrom stuff.

I hear you. Don't get me wrong. Personally, I have nothing against the gear he produces. My sarcasm and annoyance (nice combination) is based on his words and actions, not the gear.

I see he's still staunchly refusing to have anyone with a clue about writing do any of the writing, resulting in the crap that was linked above.

It's his refusal to use experts for stuff that makes me so sure that his gear is awesome. Along with the constant redesigns and the rubber-band fixes.

Oh, and the melting. (Sorry, "involuntary heat redesign".)

Now with added bokeh. (Good lenses are irrelevant, apparently. Just add bokeh and textures in post. It's the in thing.)

Why should he? He's a respected author:

Better hurry. Only 1 left in stock!

Use the proper industry lingo, Peter: Auto-initiated Thermal Shape Modification. Please note that, due to popular demand, that "feature" has been removed from current production Einsteins. Auto-initiated Thermal Shape Modification no longer occurs.

What.. on.. earth... is that cover... Did he.. he didn't... he didn't make it himself.. did he... ? Oh god now i need to know.

Wasn't he also a musician ?

I took it as a pretty big hint how the business is run when the promo shots of a new product are of the wife of the ceo.

It's OK, though, when she's hot.

PCB, was a recording tech in Hollywood. He built some sound recording equipment and was apparently well regarded by the musicians with whom he worked. The ABR800 Moon Unit is named after Frank Zappa's daughter.

Not sure what got him into designing monolights. He also considers himself and author and artist. (The book cover is probably his work as well as the text.)

Like a lot of creative people his public personality is on the outer edges or normal, or maybe beyond, depending on your tolerance level.

After being in the telcom business for 35 years, including the tech run up and crash, there is nothing unusual to me about how his products enter the market. And, they are a good "bang for the buck".

His strengths are not industrial design or marketing. Fortunately he does have a knack for designing innovative monolights and modifiers and a proponent of direct rather than tiered distribution.

As for the soft silver, I think it will be a nice complement to the silver and white.
