FLash triggers

I have hit my first shoot where my triggers let me down, due to being hidden behind walls and quite far away, plus minus 35 meters, i had misfires.

my triggers are budget ones, yung nou, and fine for normal use, but a bit more distance and walls and it now goes bad.


the price difference between yong nuo's and pocket wizards is scary, so I am now looking out for advice.

I do NOT need TTL, i shoot manual and am happy with that, but i need reliable coverage over some distance, lets say up to 50 meters, and able to be hidden behind walls etc.

I have had flashwaves which are good but also cost me too much, and they are quite easy to break or crack, so flashwaves would be out too.

Do you have 602's or 603's?

If you have 603's you 'might' be able to stack two together at 25yds. The one on the bottom would act as receiver and the one on top as transmitter. You might be able to extend range that way.

Alien Bees, Skyports, Light Stands Field Report

The thread is over a year old, but still applies. I have shot over 150 high school basketball games (and some volleyball also) using the Alien Bees. I started with the EL Skyports, then the following season switched to the Paul Buff Cybersync's. They were both very dependable. Both types will fire the strobes through cinder block walls. I have tested them over and over before games or during half time when I was down the hall or even on a breezeway outside the gym. I could see the flash through the door openings every time. I don't think you will go wrong either way.

Disclaimer: I have switched to Pocket Wizards, not because I had any problems, but because I was setting up a remote camera at softball,baseball and soccer games and the Cybersync's wouldn't fire the remote camera in burst mode - single shot only.

you can do the antenna mod on the RF-602 to give it additional distance
(do a google search )
