Well. The FA Cup came to sunny Essex today (very, very briefly). This Saturday's sees the final Qualifying Round of the world's oldest football knockout competition. It's an eagerly anticipated day for many clubs seeking to pit themselves against opposition from the Football League.

So, here are a few pics of the FA Cup itself on show this afternoon, as the managers of Grays Athletic and Cray Wanderers got to grips with the famous old trophy, prior to their sides meeting this coming Saturday.

It's mine... no it's mine!!...

Hehe ... posed both with the cup so you're ready no matter what happens, eh? :-)

I'm shooting boxing again tomorrow evening so keep an eye out for some images on Saturday.

It certainly looks like a foregone conclusion... but we all know what 'chicken counting' leads to... ;)

Gavin - Nice faces! :D I see you used flash -- as we know that's not easy when shooting trophies like these. Well done!

Went over there yesterday and setup my timelapse (again, hope I get it right this time) to run from setting up the chairs/ring all the way through bare floor again on Saturday morning ... shooting with my 20D tethered to my laptop up on the spotlight platform. Ran into the local producer for ShowTime, gave him a couple of prints and jokingly offered to shoot since their regular guy is elsewhere ... he actually took my name and email and said he thought the PR guy might be interested. We'll see. Boxing is tonight.

It was certainly a good laugh... not sure they'll be smiling at each other quite so much on Saturday afternoon though!

I'm guessing your a Kiddy fan ;) Thanks for your comment on the pics... my last visit to Kidderminster was for the West Ham FA Cup game... I seem to recall I got a pic of Lee Chapman scoring the winning goal in what was a very close game. That ages me somewhat

It's even tougher since the old exemption system was changed - even if you have a couple of good runs, you don't get that coveted place in the 4th Qualifying round that used to be up for grabs in the 'good old days'...
