Well, on July 8th, I had major surgery on my foot, ankle and leg (3 surgeries done at one time). I had these surgeries to correct injuries that I received from my time in the military, US Navy. I had been putting this surgery off for a while now because of how involved it is and how long I am now laid up for. I may not be able to return to work or school for at least 3 months maybe 4-5. It all depends on how well I can bounce back and how well things go for me in general with the healing process and all.

So on to the photos:

They fused bones in the foot to give me an arch back on that side of the foot and they also repaired more tendons in the ankle as well as tried to clean things up in there as well. The last one was to repair a tear in my achillies tendon that was causing periodic problems and had torn more since it had happened.

Just posting this for the few on here that know me and for anyone else to take a loot at. I go back this Wednesday to get my current cast off. I'll see if I can't take some pictures of the work that they did inside (xrays) and post those as well.

Horizon appears to be a liitle off
Crop is a little tight
A shallower DOF would remove the disracting background
alternatively, wait for a pretty nurse to appear in the doorway ;-)a
Try using the PS blemish removal too in PS

Only jesting.

From the list above, it looks like your serious about your recovery - enjoy.

Lawrence

Vicodin makesvme sleepy. I've been using it the last few day to be able to relax and get some sleep. Lol. I can get away without during the day but I just can't relax enough at night due to the little pains in the different areas. I don't remember the first surgery on that ankle being this bad.... then again this round was 5 hours of surgery due to all that had to be done.

I should have taken a Vic earlier because now I will want to sleep all day.... lol. I'm supposed to have some friends over tomorrow to help me with some stuff around the house... I'm going to have knocking out issues. Lol. I just took one o the 10 mg vics a little bit ago. Hopefully I can fall asleep soon. BTW I'm on my Droid phone right now.

Okay, well the pain meds have landed and I feel really damn good. It's been a few days since I let myself have a full dose.

Good shyt, yo....

Now in a few I will be nice and sleepy and can get some needed rest.

Jeff, I really sympathize with your situation. It's great to see that you've kept your spirits up after this surgery. And I think we all appreciate that this was a result of your service in the navy. Thank you.

I hope the pain isn't too great. One thing to know about pain is that it is the mechanism used by the mind to detect a damaged area of the body. When drugs block this pain, there is no communication between the mind and the damaged area, so the damage gets healed very slowly or, in some cases, never. I've heard of people with a simple cut on their hand taking ibuprofen or something similar and having the cut last for weeks.

^^^^ while there are some merits to what you are saying in regards to pain and the body I will have to say that even with 10 mg of Vicodin I can still very well feel my foot and the pain within. The Vic just allows me to be able to rest even with the pain.

Though I do typically deny myself any during the day as it helps me to keep some king of normal hours, yesterday was a really off day though seeing as I didn't take any until 4amish lol.

For me I prefer to feel the pain most of the time as it allows me to know when I can't do things or if I need to move another way. If you don't allow yourself pain then how can you know when you need to stop? That's always been my issue, but I have been on pain killers since the day I left the military, over 6 years ago now. It's about the only way I get to rest anymore is when I take them. Between my arm and my leg IDK which is worse at times.... lol

I don't say this for potty but just because it is fact. I have pain and I have learned how to deal with it without succumbing to it. If you let a petty thing like pain win you are no better than any other loser.

SNAP!

They fused my ankle recently too. It took quite a while to heal to a point were I could run and be active, and now I have to have the bolt removed this month...FUN FUN FUN!

Hope you recover quickly.

*I'll post pictures as soon as yahoo sends me my ID. They pretty brutal, haha.

yeah, since my first surgery back in 02-03 I haven't had a good time with mobility of that ankle, at first it was extremely painful and then it got worse so I just gave up on the whole exercise thing because of the level of pain. We are hoping that this will actually allow me to possibly get back to some level of exercise. It would be really awesome if that is doable....
