Jul 17, 2011 07:24 | #3 its very feasible to do so. for street u can go wide, for landscape, again can go wide and for group shots indoors not in a concert/hall. well do i really need to mention what type of focal length you need? I never said it wasn't feasible. I said "why would you need to?" - or in other words, why make yourself use just a single lens for such distinct uses? What's ideal for one use might not be (and normally isn't) ideal for another. on a FF you got the 35 and 50mm which are good but not great on a crop especially a 50mm which i have. too long There are tonnes of primes in the 24mm - 35mm range. If what you're after is simply a 50mm FoV in 35mm equiv terms then the Sigma 30 is closest, and the 28mm options are not far off.

If you prefer to stay with Canon, the 28/1.8 is also highly regarded, or 35/1.4 if you have the money. Mark.
