I should crack open a beerlao - it really is a good beer by the way (and about my first 'legal' beer heh) - to the people of Laos, who are truly very beautiful and kind, if poor on the whole.

I never got south of Vientiane, but that can be amended in a few months. :D

My 500px. (external link) I like action (external link) and volcanoes. (external link) Dragons (external link) and temples (external link) are fine, too!
I don't think the Earth revolves around me. It revolves around the Sun, which shines out of my ass.

Had my first in a Hmong village out the back of nowhere, but got in too late and left too early to get any good pictures - when it's night out there, it's night.

What is a Beerlao?

Probably the best beer brewed in Asia and one of the tastiest beers I've drunk.

Partly owned by Carlesburg ( I think 48%). In 1992 Carlesburg came in to try to improve Beerlao but they couldn't so they left he recipe alone..
Beerlao has a huge reputation from locals, expats and tourists.

Carlesburg is also brewed at the Beerlao factory for the Asian market..

About a dollar for a 640ml bottle at a cafe/restaurant.. $10 bucks for a crate of 12.

Dog is pretty tough, but the food at the village was very light and tasty, fresh cooked chicken IIRC.

Laos has the best food in the region in my opinion, but that is yet to be fully formed.

Kids sure love their fruit there, the boys were always trying to eat these passion-fruit like things with a gooey, white centre that sticks to your fingers. The boy in the 3rd photo was using his underwear as a slingshot to get them! The rocks went everywhere.

In Luang Prabang about half a dozen more were throwing rocks at a tree to get them.

One more of him. I really wish I had concentrated more on locating and photographing the steep-roofed temples of Luang Prabang, I find that is my favourite design of building, so I'm looking to practice more architectural photography before I ever go back.

We have a local/famous beer distributor named Shangy's -- I will have to stop in, see if I can get some.

Sam,, if you can get Beerlao, it's worth the effort.

I can get it in Australia at a couple of large franchised liquor outlets. For you Aussies reading this, last time I bought a couple of cases was at Dan Murphy's.
