Georgie for Ralph Lauren...

...Well not exactly for them but she works there and pretty much wears all their clothes. Plus this isnt exactly typical of the kind of style from Ralph Lauren model photos (they are always so damn bright!)

Anyways, I have loads of shots from this shoot including some with just a £2000 fur coat but that will have to wait.

Some feedback would be great, Im a little worried the 1st two might be overly red but thats kind of what I was going for. Also, testing out a new skin smoothing method and sharpening ready for internet.

I must agree with Cosha the skin job is probably overdone but the pictures themselves are great!

How is the red showing, not too bright is it?

Wow, these are the best looking pics I have seen in a while. What kind of setup and PP did you use? The skin does a look a little over done but I think it works for this type of image.

It was a few weeks ago before I went to Crete but I think I can remember the lighting setup, although its never too complicated with me

Midtone grey background.

12x40"gridded strip box behind her and to the side as a rim light

40x40 softbox to the side front

Not a whole lot of PP work, just a few curve adjustments and then some cleaning up of skin. Remove blemishes and then the dark spots around the face then some skin smoothly (all be it a little too much )

Its possible that I might have used a gridded beauty dish instead of the 40x40 to avoid spill onto the background come to think of it.

Oh and if you look closely on the 3rd image I shot at 1/160th which gives me a dark band at the bottom as I use RF602's and they dont sync quick enough (silly thumb nudging the wheel)

I agree 100%. Way too much 'correction' being done here. How about post the originals, or at least with less skin alterations.

The Rest of it, pose, light, clothes, model are top notch but the PP is way overdone.

I toned down the skin smoothing a bit.

Like stated already, I think your original skin smoothing works with these photos. Great Shots!

I think the second set still looks like there was a nuke dropped on the subject's skin.

Talk to your editor. I know the preferred degree of skin-smoothing changes wildly year to year and editor to editor. You could provide 2-3 different options of skin retouching.

Look at your first picture -- the red is so much more luminant on the model's right that it looks to be an different shade altogether, and you're losing some detail on the fabric's face (may be the Jpeg compression, but still). Try some recovery in LR and see if that helps balance the tones.

Again, great shots. Very nice work. I just prefer a more natural look.
