Pricing is definitely going to go up. Value of USD will continue to drop as weakness in the US economy continues. The Fed's QE or other such programs is not helping either.

The Fed has more to worry about then what photography gear costs. Tanking the exchange rates actually encourages buying American and increases exports.

So should I just go ahead and buy that 50 1.4 I have been thinking about? Was hoping that the price might fall a bit, but I guess $399 is the best I am gonna do..

There's still time to order the new 400 f/2.8 IS II at $11,500. Deliveries are supposed to start next month.

Just another reason to buy refurbs when Canon has them on sale... I snagged my 85L for like $1680 after rebates/tax/shipping just a few months ago. Looks and operates like a brand new lens would. Could not say enough good things...

Sadly no sale when I got my refurb 5D2, but condition is same as my 85L was.. Only 200 shutter uses on it, as well. Not a mark/flaw on it. I just wish they had the 10% sale when I bought that one, though! Cost me $2170 or something. Still better then $2400, but sub $2000 would of been great.

The Nikkors are accordingly jacked up... the Nikkors are STILL pricier.

Prices are going back to their original level in china - not quite there, but moving.

Lenses is just the tip of the iceburg... if things keep going they way they are now, a simple can of soup will start looking as exotic as an L-lens does today.

Wonder why it is only the 85 f1.2 that has increase in price.
My 24L stays the same when I bought it.

I wonder if the price increase of the 85L up so high has to do with the manufacture of that huge aspherical element? Something along the lines of that? Who knows.

I think Canon makes global adjustment to it's pricing twice a year. There was a post recently on POTN that had the most recent Canon price release about the next pricing.

IMO - imported good are going to increase in the foreseeable future, so if you need something but it today rather than tomorrow.
