This gives you more than you currently have in capabilities and a lot of versatility. It gives you a backup too. That said, the 1D4 is a heck of a camera and it's not likely to break anyway. Fwiw, I'm finding I use the 5D2 far more than the 1D4, but there are some things that you need top quality AF for - the 7D does that too... Several cameras and more glass than I will admit to.
