With the help of an interpreter, I was able to convince security at a demolition site in Fuzhou, China to give me brief access. An entire city block containing about 20-25 apartment buildings were in varying states of demolition and were to be replaced. In order to progress, sometimes we need to demolish things.
I must admit though, I am amazed at everything that is recycled in China. You wouldn't believe how much scrap is collected and reprocessed manually. I am almost certain that all the metals, wood, paper, and even bricks are reused in some capacity or another. It's mind boggling.
