I did do a search and didn't come up with much. Anyone know of the status on the continually rumored EVIL cameras?

Nope, I haven't found anything of substance yet.

In the meantime, I took the plunge and bought a Samsung NX100 over the weekend. They are dumping supplies (NX200 about to come out), so I only paid $349 for the body with the 20-50mm lens, and also got the 50-200 II tele for $100. So far it covers my needs in the mirrorless category. I still have a fair of amount of learning to adapt to the new menus and features, but it's been a good experience. No pics to post, but then this is the Canon forum...

They are also referred to as compact system cameras (CSC) and/or mirrorless cameras. They still don't have a fixed identity.

Me too, since someone may read EVIL in one place, and CSC or Mirrorless somewhere else. It's a type of camera is search of a name.
