I tried to take a few pics of my dad's car the other night, not the greatest, I got a lot to learn. They were shot at sunset to get better lighting and give the fresh paint a nice orange/yellow glow to it. I think the white balance is off in the first one. Anyway thanks for looking, all C&C welcome.

NICE highlights in it!

Don't be afraid to adjust the final result by eye which just makes more sense to me. If it looks good, I don't care if it's 'correct' or not.
See the links in my Sig, and...

Also, maybe some lower angle shots as well. The angle you have here is OK but when shooting cars I think you need to explore every angle. Nice work!

I took about 150 photos, there are lower angles. I just haven't done anything with them yet, I did these first because I was happy with the way the lighting looked. I got shots from standing, kneeling, laying on the ground and these with the camera over my head. I really wanted to try and capture as many angles as possible. Thanks.

Thanks, I did try and adjust by eye, but the color of the asphalt bothers me for some reason, That is why I think it is off, but I doubt I will change it because I am happy with the car and that is the point of the pic, not the asphalt. Thanks for the kind words also.

I have no idea how to do hdr, I may look into it though. I have thought about trying it a time or two but just have never done it. If you have any hints or tips on HDR feel free to send them my way, I would appreciate it. Thanks

Got PS or PSE? There are many other ways to do it, but the simplest is using a Layer Mask for local changes. Airport runway shoot

I have seldom seen HDR look better here than what you have in these shots.

I took the photos as the sun was going behind the clouds...it is washington, it was just shy of sunset, I really wanted to see what I could get the colors to do. Thanks.

Thanks, it took my dad quite a while to find one, it has 55,000 original miles. The paint was a little faded so we had it repainted, and the motor was mildly built. We are going to dyno it soon and see what we ended up with, it has been a fun project.

I got Lightroom, and an older PSE on another computer, I will look into it and give it a try someday.

Thanks for all the kind words all.

Here's an option. Less than 10 minutes in PS once you get the concept down. Selecting areas in PS.
There's a link there (EDIT-2) that gives more information on Adjustment Layers if you haven't used them before.

A small tutorial - Adjustment Layer Masks

I didn't change the exposure of the car at all, but it jumps out of the frame here, doesn't it?
I expected someone to say that the background is too dark, & it is a little. The point I wanted to make is that the beauty of Adjustment Layers is that you can always go back & re-adjust them at a later time. Just double-click on one & the dialog box will reopen.
