Hey All,

I have never shared images directly here as I just never really figured it out . . . until today. I wanted to share some of my work and hear from some of you serious music photographers. As a music photographer I'm about moments (rocking or otherwise). I find the thought put into the music and the concentration of the musician to be fascinating. I also shoot primarily black and white. Time after time I'll shoot color only to convert in post. Something about black and white in performance art like this that I just perfer. I know that Marshall shot in color (and I am in no way comparing myself to JM) but it was always his black and whites (especially the grainy ones) that got to me.

So I'm interested to hear some thoughts on these. Please let me know what you think. I worry about the high number of black and whites being redundant but I have musicians telling me that that is what sets me apart from everyone else.

3. Spooner Oldham: Big Sur, CA.
Spooner was a pioneer force in the Muscle Shoals, Alabama sound of the mid-sixties. The man is a legend that many don't even know but listen to all the time.

With the exception of the last 2 images of Lesh and Weir, these were all shot with a 7D and a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8. The Lesh and Weir shots were taken with 30D and a 70-200mm f/2.8

I would be into sharing more if you would like.

Thanks all,
Andrew

Number four is excellent! I love the visual depth you've achieved by meaningfully composing the two performers and the background into three levels. I'm always wondering why more concert shooters are not doing - even trying to do - that, it's just so much more interesting to see a photo that has that kind of depth. Also, stick with black-and-white. There's no need to try to jump to color, B&W is well respected in a big part of the photography world; I think I have close to 30 photo books that consist solely of B&W images.

Thanks for the comments. They do help me for sure. I'm interested to hear more. Here a few more shots I took recently while covering High Sierra Music Festival for an online magazine. Thanks again for any and all comments!
