Also, the PP seems less than optimal. For example, there's some odd fringing/artifacts along the right leg of the girl in photo #3.

Not sure what you don't get; they're ladies at an air show.

American air shows don't usually have the auto show / grid girl vibe.

Lots of pretty girls attend usually but most are looking the same way you are when the flying starts.

There are a couple of really well done "Bombshell" calendars that get produced each year. One of them even as their own line of wine now (name escapes me at the moment.)

There's a significant trade show aspect to many overseas air shows that most events in the US don't have.

Dayton, Ohio used to be a pretty vibrant trade show as is AirVenture at Oshkosh but it's the shows where they sell military hardware and the really high-end business jets (Paris and Moscow) where you'll often find models alongside the aircraft just like at an auto show.

Yes, its a cultural thing, just as car shows, plus the city where it was done is famous because of the pretty ladies.
About being soft , yes I know, thats why I was kind of glad I broke my old lense (80 200, 4.5), the perfect excuse to get a new one, that will arrive next week
